RealD Introduces "Kid-Sized" 3D Glasses
Cute? Or just ridiculous? It may be a combination of both, but one thing
it definitely is is a money grab. As 3D continues to take the world by
storm, more and more companies are hoping to get in on the riches. RealD
has been a part of 3D development for years, and their passive 3D
glasses are in tons of movie theaters today. These cheap, flimsy glasses
are amazingly one size fits all, though, and obviously a huge market
opportunity is being missed.
Er, was being missed. Today, RealD introduced their newest 3D glasses, and while the design is very similar, the size isn't. These are designed for the faces of children, built smaller for those smaller eyes that are likely coercing parents to go to the cinema in the first place. It's sort of odd to think that these are just now coming to market, and we have to wonder what exactly is "kid-sized." Oh, and don't let your little ones see this if you've been keeping them away from the movies due to the glasses being "for grown-ups only." That one simply won't fly any more.
