QNAP's 2-Bay TS-210 Desktop NAS Adds Pro-Level Features
QNAP has been on somewhat of a hot streak here lately. Nearly every month it has delivered something new to us, and with October halfway over, the latest from company is being introduced. Like clockwork, we tell you. The new desktop-centric NAS deviates from the outfit's traditional all-black, all-business attire and instead slips into a sleek white enclosure, and frankly, we dig it.
The 2-bay TS-210 NAS server holds up to two 3.5" SATA hard drives (up to 4TB supported with 2TB HDDs) and features a Marvell 800MHz CPU, 256MB of DDR2 memory and support for RAID 1. It also supports iSCSI Target service with Thin Provisioning and a Gigabit LAN port, all of which are generally reserved for higher-end/enterprise devices. The TS-210 is equipped 3 USB ports (1 front, 2 back panel), enabling you to add extra storage easily.
As with other QNAP drives, this one's also friendly with Mac, Linux, Windows and UNIX machines, and it sports a built-in UPnP/DLNA media server in order to stream to your favorite media receiver (such as Sony's PS3 or Microsoft's Xbox 360). The TS-210 can also perform centralized backups of all computers attached to the network, and while it's expected to ship later this month, there's no price being disclosed just yet.

I am looking at building something like this. If its rightly priced I would buy it. I have 2 x 1TB WD drives connected to my desktop right now and I'm in serious fear of losing data is something goes wrong. |

Ebay has it for $781.00 with two 2TB drives pre-installed.
