Why would Displaylink/Pluggable do this though it makes no sense. If we as hardware enthusiasts know that USB3 is all over the place and growing rapidly (no it's not a norm as of yet, but wait until September), so tje industry knew well before us. On top of that the performance window they could capture with a USB 3 implementation rather than a USB 2 one would have been better. Then that is also not to mention getting people to buy new pc's across the board for the availability. Who knows maybe they wanna tap out the current run before doing so, it just seem to be a poorly sighted thing to me. |

USB 3.0 will be a boon for graphics -- but it'll be next years' thing: http://displaylinkblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/usb-30-in-action-at-ces-2010.html Demos are happening now. Chips later this year they say. Products early next year then. Companies like Plugable will have devices out on USB 3.0 as soon as they can. The big boost will come when USB 3.0 hardware and software from Intel, Apple, and Microsoft arrive. But that will be a little while longer. It's a good bet that USB 2.0 will be important for quite a while yet. |
