Panasonic Lets Loose Lumix DMC-GF3 Micro Four Thirds Camera

It's hard to say if we're looking at a fad or the next great leap in photography, but the interchangeable lens / Micro Four Thirds landscape is really blooming. Panasonic has been a company responsible for spearheading a lot of the efforts here, and their keeping the good times rolling with the introduction of the GF3 this year. The newest Lumix weighs just 7.83oz., and it's capable of recording Full HD video and accepting commands via a rear touchscreen.

The Lumx DMC-GF3 claims to match the image quality of DSLRs while maintaining a small frame, and yes, it'll shoot 3D stills with the right lens. There's a 12.1MP sensor, high ISO range, and a chassis that's nearly 17% smaller and lighter than the unit that came before it. The back is home to a 3" touch panel, and it'll ship with Panasonic's new wide aperture interchangeable lens, the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 25mm / F1.4 ASPH, also announced today. The cam features a high-speed and extremely precise Contrast AF system that locks in approximately 0.18 seconds, and if you're interested, it'll be on sale this July for $699 (body + kit lens).

Too bad that aging lens collection of yours isn't compatible...

It is hard to believe that you can get the quality of a DSLR in a compact camera. It might match my Canon 30D but I doubt it would match Canon's current lineup. 3D images sounds pretty interesting for a still camera.

Not too surprised, Panasonic's Lumix line has been pretty awesome, I started out years ago with a DMC FZ10, was one of it not the only cameras with a 12x optical zoom plus A/S/M etc. I've watched them advance and yeah, this looks awesome. I want it :) lol

I do want it, but with that price tag, I'd have to say no.
