The matter on this also is that the 40GB version for $399 USD will only work with the PS3 games and not with the PS2 games. I have seen in a local Best Buy ad that if you buy the 40GB version for $399, it comes with Spider-Man 3 and 5 other blue-ray movies free.. something the 80GB does not. Go Figure! |

Yes, Sony definitely has needed a better handle on marketing this thing from the beginning. Surprising actually, for a huge brand name company. |
I could imagine how rapid sales were for the PS2 when it first came out but now.. it seems like people are more into the real-life systems like the Nintendo Wii. PS3 is in a critical state where it barely earns its name and repetation in today's world compared to half a decade ago when PS2 were on the store shelves one minute and gone the next. The PS3 have only sold 1.75 million units in North America since its arrival nearly 1 year ago on the 17th and 5.59 million worldwide. What is even a far cry is that the PS2 is still selling more units in North America than the PS3. What is a hassle is that the PS3 is like any other electronic... needs firmware upgrades and I mean constantly needs it (at least 3 times every 6 months). For those who want a PS3 for Christmas, it may be a best time in a while to get one since the supply is up and the demand is down. Sony is really like Microsoft always getting ready for the next big thing since Vista is replacing XP and Vienna will replance Vista in the distant future; surely to say, PS4 is right around the corner with a Thanksgiving 2010 or 2011 release. |
