Overclocking the GeForce 7900 GT

The folks at VR-Zone have taken a standard GeForce 7900 GT and managed to overclock the card from the stock 450/660MHz speeds to an astounding 785/1020MHz with rock solid stability! For those thinking a great deal of effort went into raising framerates by a measly 3fps or such, you are in for a surprise. In F.E.A.R, the average framerate (1280x1024 4xAA 16xAF) jumped from 52fps at stock speeds to a blistering 82fps at overclocked speeds!

That's a huge difference, from 50+ frames per second, our VR-Zone OC Edition bumped frame rates to 80+! A 50% increase in performance there! Didn't cost much as well. Sure, you definitely need some basic electronic skills to bring this card up to this kind of speed, but if you think about it, it's a lot less skills and effort involved compared to yester months. Funny how these things catch up wih us, just a few months ago, multiple compressors and other exotic forms of cooling were needed to hit this kind of speed:
