Overclockers Break More Records With MSI Motherboards

On the one hand, it’s tempting to say, “We get it already, MSI, your military-class components help facilitate fantastic overclocking”, but on the other hand, it’s really fun to see just how far pro overclockers can push the envelope with MSI motherboards and Intel Sandy Bridge-E chips.

According to a release from MSI, The answer as of right now is 5.83GHz, a feat accomplished by overclocker Turn&Burn using an MSI X79A-GD65 (8D) and an Intel Core i7-3930K processor. It’s the highest overclock currently achieved with a Sandy Bridge-E processor.

The press release also mentioned that overclocker Toppc managed to nudge an Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition chip to a base clock of 170.33MHz using an MSI Big Bang-XPower II--another world record.

Those are world records, for now. We admit it--we'd like to see exactly how far these pros can go.

Farmville must run a dream on that rig :) This is pretty cool though, shows that MSI is making really awesome boards.

It would be so sweet to have a phase change cooler.

Agreed, let's not forget about the ASUS Xtreme Design contest where one brave person put a phase change cooler inside the case; complete awesomeness right there!

Asetek sold some back in the day. I still have one :D It goes to -30C. I need to find a kit to attach it to AM2/3...but I'm low on money so that will have to wait :(

military-class components are the most stable components available, efficiency, stability and quality is what makes it so persuasive,Limits? none. The future for Msi Military-class components is unlimited and unpredictable. Crazy overclock there. My favorite MOBO is MSI Big Bang-XPower II, It's my dream
