Oprah’s New Favorite Thing: Kindle
The Amazon Kindle can hold about 200 books by itself, but if you pop in a memory card, you will be able to store more than 4,000 books. Every time you buy a book, an archival copy is stored for you at Amazon. Even if you should lose your Kindle or accidentally delete a book, you can get it back anytime you want for free.
"Anyone who knows me knows I'm really not a gadget person at all, but I have fallen in love with this little baby," Oprah says. As she puts it, "It was so easy. And the fact that it's wireless [means] you don't have to download them from your computer."
The device also has a built-in dictionary, which Amazon founder Jeff Bezos finds very useful: "I was always trying to guess the definition from the context, and I found I'm not as good as guesser as I thought I was."
So what does this type of portable goodness cost, you might ask? I mentioned in the forums the other day didnt get to much of a responce. I think its a cool gadget because you can download entire books even the news paper and dont even have to leave the house! Thats cool itself.When the price comes way down I think I,ll get me one!You guys in college could probably use this for a lot of things dictionary and Hmmmm test!!!LOL And And maybe even read the news on HH that will put a smile on Dave and Marco, face! |

I think they are very cool. I will be waiting a while though. The price is still way to high and there are a lot of things that are not ready yet. Such as the fact that you have to mail a PDF to amazon and then wait for them to send it to your kindle. Why can't you just drag it on? |

>> Why can't you just drag it on? Because Kindle *only* allows you to view DRM protected content. Some hackers have already figured out how to add the DRM, but I'm not anxious to buy something that I'm going to have to immediately hack just to view my own content.
