Wow that is fast!!! |
|
Isn't that pretty similar to the high-end intel ones? |
|
On paper, the Vertex LE series is faster than Intel's flagship X25-E Extreme. OCZ claims a sustained write speed of up to 235MB/s, while Intel rates the X25-E at up to 170MB/s/. Some other differences include: X25-E = SLC, Vertex = MLC X25-E = 32GB and 64GB, Vertex = 100GB and 200GB |

Impressive that with MLC it can best the Intel drive with SLC. |

I agree recoveringknowitall I wonder what would the benefit be to buying an SSD even on a corporate network then really? |
|
It looks good. It really will be good once they get over themselves and start pricing these drives for mainstream buyers. |

I am hesitant to go with this drive right away. Every single one of the firmwares out there had significant troubles during their initial time on the market and are only now reaching a state where they are stable. This drive will be yet another 1.0 firmware which I think is too risky. Plus theirs sounds more complex that the others due to the ECC and compression on the drive. I'll wait for everyone else to gamma test if before I buy. |

I think these use the SandForce controller. I believe they were a bit late into the game. Hopefully, they saw what everyone else did and learned from other peoples' mistakes. Seems like they are doing well so far with the really nice speeds. |
