Nokia Music+ App Comes To Windows 8 And Windows RT

With BBM Music shutting down after just a year and a half, allow Nokia and Microsoft to showcase a music service heading in the opposite direction -- away from the grave. This week, the Nokia Music app for the desktop and tablet editions of Windows 8 was launched, enabling Music+ subscribers to squeeze even more out of the service. Nokia’s head of music, Mike Bebel, had this to say: "When we launched Nokia Music+, the improvements were all designed around consumer feedback. So what did the biggest fans of the free Nokia Music service want most to take it to the next level? What people wanted most were unlimited skips, more offline storage, access to lyrics and the ability to use the service on all of their different devices.”

The Windows 8 app builds on the HTML5 access, and with Windows 8 + Windows Phone 8 sharing the same dev kernel, the company was able to streamline things a bit.  Nokia Music for Windows 8 is available now from the Windows 8 Store in the UK, US, Ireland and Australia, and will be rolling to all counties with Nokia Music+ in the coming weeks. There is no additional charge for Nokia Music+ subscribers, who can simply fill in their existing credentials within the app. You can also start a free 7-day trial of Nokia Music+ by registering for a Nokia account within the app.

Here’s a list of some of the main features of Nokia Music for Windows 8:
