Well that certainly didn’t take long. Yesterday, we told you
about a new Nikon camera / projector combo known
as the COOLPIX S1000pj. Today, Nikon
made this camera official and announced three others,
one of which that has a new touch-screen interface.
All of the new cameras
incorporate Nikon’s EXPEED digital image processing concept. They also feature
an enhancement to Nikon’s Smart Portrait System with a new Skin Softening
feature, Vibration Reduction (VR) Image Stabilization, and Scene Auto Selector.

Starting things off, we’ve got the COOLPIX S70, a 12.1
megapixel model that builds on the success of Nikon’s previous generation touchscreen
cameras with new touch-screen controls and a 3.5-inch Clear Color Display with
OLED technology. Thanks to this camera’s capacitive touchscreen, you can use
the Touch Shutter feature and enjoy a button-free experience. You’ll also be
able to edit photos, scroll through images, and zoom in and out of an image
using touch controls.
The COOLPIX S70 offers a 5x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR lens, ISO
6400, 5-way VR Image Stabilization System, and Subject Tracking. In addition to
still photos, the COOLPIX S70 can capture HD video at 1280 x 720 pixels (720p).
The COOLPIX S70 will be available in September for $399.95. Color options
include Red & Red, Champagne & Beige, Black & Black, or Champagne
& Light Brown.
As the rumors suggested, the COOLPIX S1000pj has a built-in
projector that can project images and videos as large as 40 inches. The camera
also has a slideshow function, playback pictures with music option, and effects
and creative transitions to help you show off your images.
This 12.1 megapixel camera has a 5x wide-angle Zoom-NIKKOR
glass lens, a 2.7-inch wide-angle LCD, and an ISO range from 64-6400. The
COOLPIX S1000pj will come in Matte Black in September for $429.95.
As the performance leader in the S-Series lineup, the new
COOLPIX S640 features ultra-fast auto-focus, the fastest start up time in its
class (0.7 seconds), and short shutter release time lag. Additional features
include an all metal body, 12.2 megapixel sensor, 5x wide angle NIKKOR lens,
ISO from 100-6400 at full resolution, 2.7-inch Clear Color LCD, 4-way VR Image
Stabilization System, Subject Tracking, and movie mode. The COOLPIX S640 will
