Nikon Expands Line With Nikon 1 J2 And Coolpix L610

Nikon introduced new additions to its Nikon 1 and Coolpix lines. The new Nikon 1 J2 builds upon the previous-generation Nikon 1 J1 camera. The J2 model features a new Creative Mode, metallic body, a higher resolution screen, and 1080p HD video capture capabilities. The Nikon 1 J2 features a 3-inch LCD with 921,000 dots. The new Creative Mode gives users full manual exposure controls. The camera is available in White, Black, Silver, Pink, deep Red and Orange. The Nikon 1 J2 with 10-30mm kit lens will be available in September for $549.95.

Nikon is also adding a new super-compact lens to the 1 NIKKOR line in the form of the 1 NIKKOR 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. This lens features a 2.5x zoom. Another new accessory, the WP-N1, is an underwater case that houses the Nikon 1 J1 or J2 and 10-30mm kit lens. This case is waterproof up to 40 meters.

Nikon is also adding to its Coolpix line with the announcement of the Coolpix L610. This compact camera is designed to be an affordable model with a 14x optical zoom, 1080p video recording capabilities, and a 16 megapixel CMOS sensor. The Coolpix L610 is powered by AA batteries and comes in Black, Red and Silver. This camera is expected to be available in September for $249.95.
