Nexus 10 Refresh Could Be Imminent; Google Play Listing Changed to 'Coming Soon'

When Google's Nexus 10 came out in late 2012, it proved to be a great choice for those looking to get a larger tablet - and even today, it still has respectable specs. But, a span of 17 months since its original launch and the fact that it hasn't seen an update since shows that we're long overdue for an update. Well, one might be coming, if the hint we're being given at the Google Play store is accurate.

The Nexus 10 has largely been out-of-stock for months, and now, instead of seeing a notice for that, the wording has been changed to "Coming Soon". Being that the Nexus 10 is a dual-core tablet, it seems very likely that a refresh is imminent; quad-core tablets have been commonplace for some time. With the hardware boost given to the latest-generation Nexus 7, the old Nexus 10 really is starting to get long in the tooth.

Since 2011, Google hasn't gone more than 8 months before launching a new major Android OS version, so I can't help but wonder if the Nexus 10 is on the path to launch alongside Android 4.5 - or whatever it might be called. If Google sticks to the scheduling we've seen over the past few years, that would be due in July. That's still three months away though, and given this "Coming Soon" mention, I'd imagine the Nexus 10 will come before that. Instead, the third-gen Nexus 7 could be revealed alongside 4.5.

Nonetheless, it's good to see hope that a second-gen Nexus 10 could be en route, because it is certainly overdue.
