Nvidia has been working closely with Crytek throughout the life of this project, according to Vivoli, who told the press that Crysis is “the most advanced game ever developed."
Since we know Dan the Man isn't the type to mix words and dabble in rumors, we'd offer it's pretty safe to say things will be heating up in graphics, just in time for the gift-giving season. A little Crysis, a few new GPUs; just what all the good girls and boys want.

I should just barely make the step-up window by about a week... if not I may have to rob somebody @ mouse point!!! |

Hi All, I'll have to wait & see what type of performance increase would be had by upgrading if Nvidia does release a new graphics card. In addition will have to consider if the most beneficial increase would be had in either XP or Vista, as I'm still using XP Pro.

I played the MP beta for Crysis and was quite frankly disappointed with the framerate especially considering that when playing online the system doesn't have any AI, etc. to calculate! |

Please read the BETA forum before making yourself look stupid :) |

I didn't know any of that and don't feel stupid at all(I can always learn something new)... you however just made a complete *** out of yourself by insulting someone in your very 1st post ever @ a forum you've never posted in before. You could have pointed that information out without even referencing my post at all.

Knowitalls right, this forum has always prided itself on the fact that you could post a view or opinion without leaving yourself open to non objective, unnecessary and pretty damn rude retorts to your prior comments. That is unless you of course wish to start the flame war yourself (as you appear to want to) in which case you leave yourself as fair game.
Its not a surprise to see that Nvidia has linked itself to Crysis. It makes sense for both companies to maximize publicity at the time of such major releases.
This isnt unique at this juncture either. The soon to be released "Orange Box" makes know secret of the fact that it plays better with AMD/ ATI cards. |
You're certainly not reffering to me are you? My statement to Malk was strictly defense. BTW: Malk you made a mistake(which by the way doesn't make you stupid in any way just human), it's Kentfield not Kentsfield. |
No mate, my post was in no way directed at you, purely in your defense. |
|
Thanx sincerely!!! |

Yeah, this time last year I scrambled to get the best card I could, because Crysis was "coming out December." Well, that got delayed a whole entire year so now I'm riding on some more-or-less outdated hardware. I really feel like smacking somebody, be it the developers, EA, or the entire graphics industry. |

Hi All, I feel your pain Jerkwheat. I'm no expert, far from it, but I've learned to be very skeptical about all releases be it Games, Hardware, or Operating System. When Vista was first introduced, the big selling point was the AiroGlass feature & DirectX 10. Vista was supposed to be the next best thing to sliced bread. Nothing but Hype. When people started complaining to the OEM's they went to Microsoft & said in essence "give us back XP". On the Hardware side of things you've had Nvidia & ATI/AMD extolling the virtues of SLI/ Crossfire. I personally never bought into their reasoning, although I'm not one to rain on anyone else's parade. To each their own. In addition last year Nvidia released their GeForce 8800 series cards that were to have fantastic prowess in DirectX 10 games, even though there wasn't one single DirectX 10 title on the market. Now, with Crysis getting ready to be released you have Nvidia ( if you believe the rumors ) about to release a new graphics card. On to games, the Developers had something new to deal with in DirectX 10. If I'm not mistaken, DirectX 10 is built from the ground up, a totally new format that the Developers had to learn about, so it's no surprise that games were delayed. As far as "outdated hardware", as far as I'm concerned if the hardware I have gives me a enjoyable experience, then it's not outdated at all. I suspect while not knowing what you have in your Rig that it'll probably be up to the task. |
