Maingear Outfits Quantum Shift with Intel's Xeon E Processors

As we noted in our recent coverage of Intel's Xeon E series processors, this is some serious hardware, and it's easy to see why Maingear went in this direction. The E3-1200 Family strikes a balance between performance and cost, and with the exception of the E3-1220L, all E3-1200 processors sport four cores clocked anywhere from 3.1GHz to 3.5GHz.
By going this route, Maingear is opens the door to users looking for a budget-conscious workstation capable of 2D CAD, entry-level digital media, and 3D CAD work.

I would like to do some 3D Design someday and work on a video game built to my specifications. I know that won't be possible anytime soon because of the time and skill requirements that I don't posses at this time. Once I am at a comfortable place in life though I will make a video game I could be proud of. |

not surprising that they would make this upgrade. i know a handful of people who i'm forwarding this to immediately, their auto cad systems are a little outdated and the maingear shift design is impeccable. |

This seems to be a very nice option for the market it is aimed at. Not to mention I think there is some big money in that market focus for them. The comparable DELL, HP, IBM etc systems are not cheap and they can be expensive so it is a great place for a manufacturer to hit. The components seem powerful and with a boutique builder like Maingear you can have it fully customized with exactly what you want in it, whereas with the large manufacturers you may have difficulty with the customization level they can provide. |
