Maingear Adds GTX 590 GPU To SHIFT And F131 Desktops

If there's one thing you can count on, like clockwork, it's the prescence of new desktop rigs each time AMD or NVIDIA launches a new flagship graphics card. Companies like iBuyPower, Cyber Power, Digital Storm, HP, Dell and Maingear all jump at the chance to get something fresh into their lineups, and the latter is doing so now. The company's highly-prized SHIFT "personal supercomputer" is joined by the F131 desktop in having the option to support NVIDIA's new GeForce GTX 590 GPU -- called the "most powerful and quietest DirectX 11 dual graphics card ever built."

Should you choose to spend the cash, you can order either of those machines with a GTX 590, boasting dual 512-core GTX 500 Series GPUs, a custom vapor chamber cooler, three dual-link DVI ports, NVIDIA's Surround solution and support for 3D Vision, PhysX, Quad SLI, etc. The new rigs (and the new GPUs) are available to order now, but make sure your credit card's ready for the hurt.

would definitely be an expensive setup :/ they need to support payment options for people that cant buy it all at once and space it out ove a year or something :) Anyways... the 590 was disappointing :/ such a lack in performance in one core compared to the 580...

I agree the reviews on the 590 left me wanting more. I hope some firmware updates get the bugs out and possibly a FTW editions. Maybe even a price drop...maybe...

I agree with both. The 590 does seem to not fully take advantage of the dual gpu setup-up. Though I'm an nvidia fan, I'm curious to know under which parameters can they state that its the "most powerful (...) dual graphics card ever built."

Yeah; it is the most powerful graphics card ever built except for the ATI 6990 release a week before it. Maybe with releases so close there advertising department was off a little. From what I have seen on these they are down clocked to a percentage. With the numbers being as close as they are for the two of these double GPU cards I imagine if not down clocked the Nvidia's numbers would be closer to the AMD/ATI card. I also wonder why the release card had to be down clocked. I remember the last series of ATI cards had the same configuration where the second GPU was down clocked. That was for power and transmission (Bandwidth) issues from what I understand. I imagine it is the same on this Nvidia card.
