Logitech Launches Lapdesk N600 with Retractable Touchpad

Your mother may have raised you to always keep your cool, but little did she know that heat-generating laptops would render her instructions hard to follow. That's one of the areas Logitech's new Lapdesk N600 was designed to help out with, providing a barrier between your notebook's toasty underside and those precious parts in and around your lap. Buy why stop there?

The Lapdesk N600 has a trick up its sleeve that makes it unique. Hidden inside is a 5-inch retractable touchpad with multi-touch navigation. Sure, your notebook already has a trackpad, but this one's not only big, it's also flexible in that you can scroll using two fingers and swipe through pages or pictures using three.

"We've seen people using everything from pillows to pets to shield their laps from the heat their laptops generate," said Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for laptop accessories. "Our lapdesks are much more effective and, with the addition of a multi-touch touchpad, you'll get the added capability to more easily move through your favorite content without attaching additional peripherals."

The Lapdesk N600 communicates with your notebook via Logitech's Unifying USB receiver. Logitech claims you'll get six months of battery life out the N600.

Look for the Lapdesk N600 to ship later this month for around $100.

Must protect those "parts" I certainly would be interested in trying the product. I have often been nearly burned by my laptop.

"I think that this product will be more appealing towards women. I don't know many guys that put their laptop on top of their crotch or legs, women do that all the time, I know cause my girlfriend does it everyday on top of the bed and in the couch while she's surfin the web via Wi-Fi, and so do her friends when they come over and they start gossiping over Facebook updates of their friends."

Yeah... I kinda prefer placing the laptop on my legs... I can tell you right now that the bottom of that thing is hot as hell and I'm into anything that'll make the bottom seem like an ice pack.

I kinda see it as a possible (not really probable) replacement for mice while gaming. Mind you not all games or gamers will be comfortable with the setup but it's not that bad of an ideea.

For $100 I would like to see the Lapdesk N600 with built in fans to cool your laptop. That would be cool. :) Thanks for the nice bit of news Paul!

@omega

I was thinking too that 100's pretty steep, even with the touchpad.

@Optimus I actually think it is more target towards men. Heat does not effect a woman's fertility where high temperatures can reduce a males.

@Lau I don't really think this product is meant for gamers, it is more for the casual user sitting on the living room couch and surfing the web or playing a flash game on the internet maybe.

@Lamar I agree the price is a bit much for what it does.
