They should have included server/datacenter share as well. |

theillien's right - They left out the segment where Linux has had the largest share for the longest time. Also, I think their numbers are way off: I saw statistics at Reddit that placed it at 3.7%, and at W3Schools that placed it at 5.3%. Granted: Those sites are for the more tech-savvy, but statics from sites that only offer Windows software skew things much more in the other direction. Marco: I'd be curious to know what your logs say is the percentage for HotHardware user agents. You guys do more Windows stories than Linux, but at least it's not a site that dis-includes Linux completely. |

I'll have Dave check this out tonight if possible. Will let you know... |

This was a consumer products-based study, not enterprise/server. |

They should have shown DVR's and GPS systems... Which would have practically been all Linux. Haha.. I also don't belive that OSX only has 6.36% of the desktop. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_operating_systems shows them at 7.4% (and Linux over 2%). |

Interestingly enough it is in a lot of other devices as well. For example I recently got some new Toshiba MFP's into my school building whose software is a custom version of Linux. |

I wonder if Laptops are included with the desktops. |

BTW: In case you missed it, Linux turned 20 years old the other day - http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/11383/happy-birthday-linux-las-s18e03/ |
