Intel's 2go PC Details

Formerly known as the netbook, we're now hearing a nearly complete list of details for Intel's new mini-laptop.

"The 2go features an Intel Celeron M CPU on top of the 915GMS chipset, 512MB of RAM (upgradeable to 1GB), a 9-inch, 800 x 480 LCD display, 40GB hard drive, 802.11b/g, SD / MMC reader, and a full complement of standard ports and jacks. The systems natively run XP (though Linux appears to be an option), feature a VGA webcam, and are expected to go about three hours between full charges."

The 2go PC should be available in less than 2 months and is expected to cost about $400.  With a price like that and specs like those, one might expect that more than just the education market to take interest.

The OLPC is, and always has been a joke.

It is underpowered even for its current build.

Great to see so many companies developing small, cheap, and ultra portable laptops.

this is also one of the few sub 500 dollar laptops to  run windows at the moment too

Well, ifyour spending money on a cheapish laptop, might as well get a linux one and save even more.

No I am not a linux guy, but it would be a little lighter, and for the target audience (frequently young kids or older individuals) it is basic, easy, and pretty.

Not bad for $400. Looks like it would be perfect for teens in school. It wasn't all too long ago that $400 for a laptop was unheard of. Progress is great isn't it.
