Intel Intelligent Home Energy Management

Energy-efficient computing based on Intel architecture now brings power-saving energy controls to your home. The Intel Atom processor is the heart of a low-power embedded computing panel designed to exchange monitoring and control data with smart appliances, smart plugs, smart electric utility meters and sensors located throughout the home.

Intel recently demonstrated at their Tech Heaven event, a concept design for a central control center that provides family members with information to not only control utility costs, but also help them plan their daily activities, access personal messages and activate home security systems. See more about how Intel is changing the way we live, work, and play.

I would love to have something like this. Hopefully smart appliances will come sooner than later, and we can start saving some green.

Now that looks like it would be the Ultimate remote control!

If it does all that, after it controls my home theatre then count me in:)

I would love to have the HAL9000 on my coffe table!

This looks very sleek and futuristic. An all in one monitoring device.

This reminds me of the Logitech Harmony remote how it controls multiple devices from a single remote, this Intel device monitors multiple devices throughout the home from a single POD.

that is one sick looking device. I wonder what is up with that notch on the top. Design only? Or does it serve an actual purpose?

I guess Intel had to get their hand in this market too. It's an attractive piece of hardware but I am skeptical on it's flexability and customization compared to other advanced devices that have been out on the market for some time like some of the Elan systems. Just cause it's got intel's name on it doesn't mean I am gonna buy it.

Well just because its got the Intel name on it, means it is going to be $700 more than other systems.:)

RyuGTX:
I wonder what is up with that notch on the top.

You stick your finger into it and it sticks you and reads your blood sugar. Then it tells you how much insulin to take. (or if you're a Vampire, how much blood to drink)

This sounds like a great device! My one concern is whether it will be able to effectively control multiple devices simultaneously. I've been looking into getting a security system for my home as well, such as the ones mentioned on http://www.homsecuritysystems.net/  but I already have so many controllers in my house so this device might be helpful...Although I'm still slightly skeptical at how well this actually works. Anyone had a chance to try it out yet??
