Hulu Plus Now Invite-Free On PS3, BRAVIA HDTV

Hulu Plus Now Invite-Free On PS3, BRAVIA HDTV

There's hardly anything better than "free." But "free access for all" might just sound even better, especially if you're a PlayStation 3 who has been waiting for Hulu Plus access. Up until now, having access to Hulu Plus on your PS3 required an invite, so you had to be a member of PlayStation Plus. Members of the free PlayStation Network were left out in the cold.

But no more. Hulu has announced that they are moving on a plan to extend content options and get Hulu Plus onto more devices. Starting next week, PSN users will no longer need an invite to download Hulu Plus, but to use the service, they will have to pay $9.99 per month just like everyone else. But they'll have access to more and more television content, and it'll be available to them sooner than everyone else.

Also, all 2010 BRAVIA HDTVs from Sony are also getting access to Hulu Plus today, free of charge for the app, but of course $9.99 per month for the service. Looks like a good weekend for television, you know?

I'll subscribe if they give me the TV,............

I'd subscribe, but nothing requiring the PlayStation Network will work for me since I won't update my firmware and lose the OtherOS capability.

There's no doubt that Hulu always wants something new to offer to their subscribers.Free Internet video content paid for with advertising might not work for Hulu. Hulu may not want its viewers to get used to being able to view TV shows and movies for the small price of being exposed to advertising. Although advertisers are becoming more receptive to Hulu's audience, a traditional fee-for-service model, plus advertising, may be necessary to slake the thirst for cash of the company's partners.
