Huawei Reveals 7" Android 3.2 MediaPad Tablet

A new tablet? Of course, it's 2011! The tablet wars are getting more intense than ever, and this one is probably the most interesting 7" slate that we've seen since the arrival of the Galaxy Tab. Huawei's MediaPad is a 7" powerhouse with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, and unlike any other product before it, it'll ship with Android 3.2. The company confessed today that Android 3.2 is really 3.1, but tailor made for the smaller 7" screen.

Other specifications include two cameras (a 1.3MP in the front, 5MP in the rear), GPS, Wi-Fi, a battery that'll last six hours and 8GB of internal storage space. There's also a microSD slot, an internal 3G module, HDMI output, and a few titles (Facebook, Twitter, Let's Golf and Documents To Go). You'll also get Bluetooth, a Flash 103. player, headphone jack, and a body that's just 10.5mm thick. Many of the other essential details are being held for later, but it should ship with various carriers in America in Q3 of this year. There's a video below -- sure looks like the most powerful 7" slate this world has seen to date.

This sounds like one hell of a tablet especially for the size. Though I tend to prefer the 10" form factor.

I wonder how Google is planning to support all of these different flavors of Android for different devices... 1 version for the 10 inch 1 version for the 7 inch and then another set of versions for smartphones.

Any idea of what the price point on this particular model is going to be?

yes sounds good for sure,,, hopefully they come down a bit less than the 450-500 mark everyone tries to price themselves into -- you don't have as many followers as apple, so you're gonna have to take it on the chin for a while till your product or OS gains more footing with recognization or more apps, a place where apple has everyone beat at the moment

the playbook at 7" looks tiny compared to the ipad, but they want just as much money and dont have the programs, you won't want a playbook unless you have a blackberry and not all blackberry users are going to want a playbook.

I agree^

I've never heard of this company before. When I saw this article my first response was... HuaiiieeeWHAT? They should keep their prices low until they are known and trusted when it comes to products. I know I wouldn't reach too deep into my pockets for a company I've never heard of, for all I know it could be another "ebay" tablet :S Even though it sounds pretty sweet and up to par if not better than it's competitors.

I admit, it does have the potential to be an eBay tablet but it looks so sleek and sexy and beautiful. Without any luck, Huawei could probably become a major tablet maker on it's own.

I mean just look at the featureset and the price, this is like an iPad but way, way cheaper. I'm sure cheap people will no doubt jump all over this deal.
