As part of today’s news, Microsoft Corp. announced that the company is anticipating that the next version of its client operating system, Windows 7, will be available to customers in time for the holiday shopping season. In addition, Windows Server 2008 R2 Release Candidate (RC) is available today with the final product releasing to market in the same timeframe as Windows 7.Yes, yes, Windows Server 2008 R2 is all interesting, but Windows 7, now there's the real excitement. Microsoft originally indicated a January 2010 release date for Windows 7, but has always said that it was shooting to to release the new OS in 2009.

Meh, I'd rather stick with XP/Windows Server 2003 for a couple more years anyway. At least at work. At home, I'd upgrade just for the DirectX compatibility. |
|
As per the SDK, There's no hardware out yet that supports the new DirectX features. :\ It'll be two years before you see any games that use them, anyway. Given that, I see no compelling reason to update it on my kids machine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7#New_and_changed_features |

I'll run the RC till next march. At that point I guess I'll upgrade. |

I have yet to install the RC, its been sitting on my desk burned to a dvd for the past week....lol |

Only takes about 15 minutes to install. I just did it this weekend. |

^I know I have just been to lazy to do it...lol |
