Google Cancels Playground Event Due to Hurricane Sandy

As Hurricane Sandy bears down on the East coast, at least one company isn’t taking any chances. Google has cancelled its Playground event in New York, as the governor has declared a state of emergency.

The event will be rescheduled at some point soon, and we’ll let you know when that is as soon as Google tells us.

Until, then, everyone will have to rely on rumors about the products Google was possibly planning to announce at the event, including new 7- and 10-inch Nexus tablets, new Nexus smartphone, and Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie.

On a serious note, we’re glad that Google decided to keep its people out of harm’s way, and we hope everyone else in the storm’s path stays safe and won’t be affected too much in the aftermath.
