Gateway Recalls Laptop Hibachi Batteries
The Irvine, Calif., computer maker said the affected battery packs were shipped as the primary or spare battery pack for Gateway 400VTX and 450ROG series notebooks. They were sold during a three-month period from May 2003 to August 2003 in the U.S. through Gateway's Web site and its Gateway Country stores.
Gateway said it will replace affected battery packs at no cost to the customer. It did not identify the maker of the recalled battery packs. Last year, the company was one of several PC makers that recalled lithium-ion battery packs manufactured by Sony Corp.
