Gateway LT2016u Netbook Comes To Verizon For $150 On Contract
We've known since late March that Verizon Wireless was thinking hard about offering subsidized netbooks that ran on its data network, and while it has been offering a single model for a few months now, this is probably the most attractive one yet to find its way into a carrier store.
Gateway's LT2016u is the first Gateway of any kind to snake into a VZW store, and the built-in Verizon WWAN module probably has something to do with that. Starting this Sunday (10/04), EV-DO lovers looking for a new machine to bring along on the road can skate on into a VZW store to pick one up, but don't expect any discounts without a hefty 2-year contract.
As with most netbooks, this one also sports a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, a 10.1" WSVGA display, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 6-cell battery, multi-media card reader, a 0.3MP webcam, Wi-Fi, a USB 2.0 socket and two stereo speakers. The good news is that it'll only cost you $149.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate; the bad news is that you're stuck with the same netbook for the next two years. Makes the decision that much tougher, huh?
