The smart folks at Genius
recently kicked off their foray into the camcorder business with the launch of the G-Shot HD575T. The G-Shot is a hybrid high-definition touchscreen optical camcorder with "one of the slimmest" profiles around, the company claims, but despite its comparatively thin stature, it's capable of shooting Full HD 1080p video and snapping up to 16-megapixel still images with software interpolation.
It has a 3-inch LTPS touchscreen display that folds in and out as needed, as well as rotates. If you tap the screen before snapping a photo, you can make brightness adjustments with the Auto Exposure feature. Once you've taken the shot, you can rotate pictures with a twist of your finger.
Other features include a nifty built-in Motion Detection Mode (records motion without having anyone standing behind the camcorder), 32MB internal memory, dual SD slots, 5X optical zoom, 4X digital zoom, 5MP CMOS image sensor, and 1/2~1/4000 second shutter speed.
Genius says the G-Shot will be available in the U.S. and Canada, though didn't say when or for how much.
