First Windows Phone Launches in China, HTC First Handset Maker to the Party

On the Windows Phone blog, Michael Stroh announced that devices running Windows Phone have officially landed in China, a landmark moment for the platform that has thus far lagged far behind stateside juggernauts iOS and Android.

The first device bearing the mobile platform will be the HTC Eternity, which may just be a rebranded HTC Titan. If the handset is indeed essentially a Titan, it will feature a 1.5GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 16GB storage, a 4.7-inch 800x480 display, and front- and rear-facing cameras.

Stroh specifically stated that the Eternity is unlocked and will have plenty of popular Chinese apps pre-installed, in addition to “a version of the software that both showcases the inherent beauty of Chinese characters and excites Chinese customers.”

He also indicated that more devices are coming from HTC as well as other manufacturers, including Nokia.
