Now that Microsoft
has much of the industry swooning (or in some cases, shrugging) over its Surface tablet
and Windows Phone 8 announcements
, the next slew of related and highly anticipated announcements will concern the devices that will run Windows Phone 8. Up first is leaked details of HTC
’s upcoming trio of Windows Phone 8 handsets.
The line starts with the Rio, a 4-inch (WVGA) device running a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor that features a 5MP camera capable of 720p HD, 512MB or RAM, 14.4Mbps HSPA.
The mid-range phone will be the 4.3-inch Super LCD-equipped Accord (are these all going to be car names?), with an 8MP 1080p HD camera, 42Mbps HSPA+ capabilities, and NFC. It’ll have 1GB of RAM and (probably) a Qualcomm MSM8260A processor.
On the high end is the Zenith (oh good, not a car name); it’s slated to rock a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 screen, quad-core Snapdragon chip, and the same 8MP camera and 42Mbps HSPA+ as the Accord.
The phones should be coming sometime in the fourth quarter of 2012, with the lower-end devices landing as early as October.
