Netflix already accounts for 30% of internet traffic. I can imagine what this type of media consumption will be like in 2015. The big question is going to be can the internet handle this much traffic? Already you can see slowdowns at peak times of the day. This study sounds like a way for Cisco to say hey buy out equipment now to beef up the backbone of the internet otherwise the internet will fall. |

"Netflix already accounts for 30% of internet traffic...Already you can see slowdowns at peak times of the day." First, that's 30% of traffic, not 30% of bandwidth. Second, that's not because the internet can't handle it, that's because your ISP sucks. The internet backbone increases its bandwidth by ~50% every year. When's the last time you've seen a 50% increase in your bandwidth at home, year-over-year... for free? |

@omegadraco I agree. This Cisco study is great PR not only for the company but also for other tech companies involved in propagating the digital revolution and their respective investors. Who's getting my stock money? :) |

I read where there could be a shortage of current IP addresses. The solution is to expand the numbers from IPv4 to IPv6 so what was 192.168.12.15 in the future will look like 2004:0sf6:52a5:0000:0000:yadda:yadda:yadda. Try to remember that IP address. |

@ThunderBird - lol! Isn't tech suppose to make our lives less complicated, not more? :) |

Great marketing for Cisco, sure. I just hope broadband providers listen up and start preparing their infrastructures now! |
