Casio Unveils EXILIM Cameras with 30fps Burst

Featuring high-speed burst shooting faster than an SLR camera, Casio’s new EXILIM EX-FS10 ($349.99) and EX-FC100 ($399.99) cameras support a high-speed 30 shot-per-second burst rate and high-speed movie capture at a maximum of 1,000 fps. The 9.1MP EX-FS10 measures 0.64-inches thin and has a 3X optical zoom lens and a 2.5-inch high-performance Super Clear LCD. Also a 9.1MP camera, the EX-FC100 is a tad thicker, at 0.9 inches. This camera has a 5x optical zoom with a CMOS shift anti-shake function and a 2.7-inch high-performance Super Clear LCD.

Both cameras can capture up to 30 shots per second of 6.0-megapixel images. They can also save up to 25 frames prior to the instant that the shutter button is actually pressed, so you won’t miss a shot even if you’re a tad slow at pressing the button. If you press a dedicated button while shooting, the camera can show you the movement of the subject in slow motion on the LCD, allowing you to select the perfect moment to capture from the scene. These cameras also let you capture a still image while viewing the movement of a subject in slow motion.

In addition to the aforementioned high-speed cameras, Casio also introduced the EXILIM EX-Z400 ($299.99), EX-Z270 ($229.99), and EX-S12 ($249.99). These three cameras have the Dynamic Photo function, which lets you cut out the main subject of interest in an image that has just been captured and then combine it with another image to form the background. You can also use this feature to cut and paste several rapid-succession images to create a moving subject on a still background. For more information on this feature, or to view samples of what you can do with it, visit www.exilim.com/dp.

To make this Dynamic Photo functionality possible, the EXILIM EX-Z400, EX-Z270, and EX-S12 utilize the EXILIM Engine 4.0, which has an ordinary CPU and a high-speed dedicated image processing CPU. The EX-Z400 and EX-Z270 also have a hand-held night photography mode.

The EX-Z400 has a wide-angle 28 mm, 4X optical zoom lens with a 12.1-megapixel sensor. It can shoot about 550 shots on a full charge. The EX-Z270 also has a wide-angle 28 mm, 4X optical zoom lens, but offers a 10.1-megapixel sensor. The 12.1MP EX-S12 is a thin camera with a 3X optical zoom and a 2.7-inch widescreen LCD monitor.
