Tablets in school? Man, where were these when we were back in 8th grade?
Brainchild (an awesomely named company) has just revealed the Kineo, a
7"
tablet and eBook reader that has just shipped to ten states in the
U.S. in order to provide students with an all-new learning platform.
Textbooks are so last century; with devices like the Kindle and iPad
already infiltrating classrooms, the Kineo should fit right in. These
devices are being deployed across various regions with Brainchild's
standards-based curriculum, Achiever!, and GlobalSYNC technology.
The slate is based on a highly customized version of Android 2.1, and
we're told that the company sold out of its initial production run of
5,000 Kineos, which were delivered in April to school districts in ten
states, including North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Alabama,
Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas. Care to see more? There's a video
here -- here's hoping your kid comes home with one!
