BMW's ConnectedDrive system has been one of the more cutting-edge options in the luxury car market, and for those holding out for a 2014 year model, there's even more to look forward to in terms of infotainment. The automaker has announced a major refresh for 2014 model vehicles, including an upgraded iDrive
system, SIM card integration into the vehicle for data access, and BMW Assist being standard in nearly all 2014 models including 10 years of eCall with enhanced Automatic Collision Notification and BMW Teleservice.
Internet access will also be an option, while enhanced voice command options will allow Siri Eyes Free
and Samsung's S-Voice to be recognized. More apps will be supported as well, including Pandora, MOG, and Aupeo, while new apps will include Audible, TuneIn, Rhapsody and Glympse with more to follow. Later this year, BMW Apps integration will be available for devices with the Android operating system.
Sadly, those with existing vehicles are left out in the cold -- such is the cost of progress.
