Asustor, a subsidiary of Asus
that's focused on network attached storage (NAS)
and video surveillance solutions, today announced the launch of its all new AS 6 Series NAS boxes. According to Asustor, these are the first NAS devices in the world to feature System Sleep Mode (S3) along with near instantaneous wake up times.
The AS 6 Series ships in 2-bay (AS-602T), 4-bay (AS-604T), 6-bay (AS-606T), and 8-bay (AS-608T) configurations. Each model features an Intel Atom 2.13GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of DDR3 memory (expandable up to 3GB), USB 3.0 support, HDMI, SATA 6Gbps support, RAID 0/1/5/6/10 support, hard drive hot swapping, and read/write times of 200MB/s or more.
"Small businesses and consumers are both experiencing ballooning data, requiring a simple, centralized way to protect and access their vital digital information." said David Tuhy, General Manager, Intel Storage Division. "Powered by the Intel Atom processor, the AS 6 Series is a great way to provide business continuity. With the new HDMI connector consumers can play directly from the AS 6 NAS. And the web feature enables access anytime, anywhere, on any intelligent device creating a personal cloud."
All four models also come preloaded with Asustor Data Master (ADM), a specialized operating system for storage devices that's purportedly easy-to-use and supports an expansive array of apps, the company says. Some other feature highlights include AES 256-bit encryption for individual shared folders, UPnP Media Server support, iSCSI targeting, a built-in firewall and Network Defender, and remote replication via FTP and Rsync.
