Any word on price?  Maybe it'll sell for a sweet $250 like the Wii, too.

Well, they got the form factor down, but as they say, beauty is only skin deep. Lets hope what's on the inside is as pleasing. Since this bares the Eee nameplate I presume this is going to be quite reasonably priced. In keeping with the current Asus trend I think this will offer performance befitting its price, whatever that price may be. Unlike other manufacturers, Asus doesn't seem to include a premium based on intangible aesthetics when assigning prices.

Yeah, this should be a pretty nice machine with a bit more horsepower for sure over the notebook, since they can save cost without the LCD etc.

We should caution you that these are not "official" pictures per se.

The advent of reduced footprint Machines has to be a good thing.

In the dim and distant past I had a 386 based machine which was about the same size as three VHS tapes. It's good to see that an affordable micro-sized PC is back on the affordable list currently micro-PC's are around UK£1K.

Back to the plot; there is a good possibility that it will feature a Linux OS, hopefully in full form not the cut down version supplied with their Eee 701 laptop. There are many more versions of Linux based OS some of which will run from 16MB of RAM not even needing a HD, something that basic M$ cannot do never mind do it with word processing spread sheets etc.

Whilst XP has it's place, and about 3 years left before M$ replace it. Probably with a streamlined version of Vista. Which will need demand more memory and disk space. So a small footprint machine which runs lightning fast may well be a flash in the pan if users need it to run M$ product.

Although it might be feasible to run Window's Mobile 7 if the proposed unit has the option of a touch sensitive screen...only time will tell. But for tiny desk top operation the future looks to be wedded into Linux and likely to be behind Asus future desk-top project planning.


I had a major job finding a CPU case which would fit my workstation. These small footprint machines will allow me to add a printer/scanner to my workstation something which I cannot do currently. I welcome this rumoured introduction and look forward to it becoming a reality.

When XP is no longer supported I shall migrate to Linux and when the machine dies take onboard a micro-sized PC with a Linux OS.
