Asus Introduces RT-N16 Wireless-N Router

Asus has been busy of late introducing a few versions of its Eee PC Seashell, but it's taking a break from the notebook business in order to showcase a new WLAN router. The RT-N16 is a wireless-N router that does quite a bit more than just transmit Internet signals from your broadband modem to your Wi-Fi enabled devices. Asus touts this one as having speed, simplicity and security, all of which are obviously useful for a wireless router.

As for specs, the unit boasts a maximum wireless speed throughput of 300Mbps and 24/7 downloads when PCs are turned off. You heard right, this router enables BitTorrent (peer-to-peer) downloads even when connected PCs are shut down. It's also equipped with an EZ user interface that lets administrators easily setup and manage their network. Home and business users can seamlessly allocate bandwidth to suit their specific needs, share multimedia content and setup printer or scanner functions.

There's also a potent CPU and 128MB of DDR2 memory for handling all those extra duties, not to mention four Gigabit Ethernet sockets, two USB ports and built-in WPS capabilities. There's no mention of a price or release date just yet, but we bet they'll both surface soon.
