Asus G74 Gaming Notebook Tips Up on Preorder

Asus G74 Gaming Notebook Tips Up on Preorder

Listen up mobile gamers, if you've been holding out for Asus' G74 gaming laptops, we have good news. Your patience for these long-awaited laptops can now be rewarded, as there's at least one U.S.-based e-tailer accepting preorders for two G74 notebooks SKUs, the G74SX-A1 and G74SX-3DE.

Both notebooks sport an Intel Sandy Bridge Core i7 2630QM (2GHz) processor, 17.3-inch Full HD (1920x1080) LED display, a heaping 12GB of DDR3-1333 memory, 1.5TB (2x750GB) storage, Blu-ray reader, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M discrete graphics with 3GB of GDDR5 memory, USB 3.0, illuminated keyboard, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

The G74SX-3DE ups the ante with a 3D-capable display and bundled Nvidia 3D Vision kit, otherwise they're the same notebook with the same hardware inside. The G74SX-A1 is available from ExcaliberPC for $1,745 and the G74SX-3DE for $1,979.

Nice, but I think I'll stick with my G73. Glad to see ASUS advancing their gaming laptops and staying at the top end for price/performance.

These things look absolutely amazing :) But I only game on my desktop computer so I have no need for a laptop this powerful. I really like the idea that they are including a 3d capable screen and the kit to see it with the 3DE model.

I actually almost never fire up my desktop anymore draco. My G73 is powerful enough to run most new games at 1080p smoothly. It lets me sit in the living room with my girl and game while she watches TV.

@Infinity I can see that as being a plus. Though being a married man with a child sometimes I just need to get away and my office is the perfect place for that. Crank up the sound on my favorite games and hide away for a couple of hours. I usually just surf the internet and do college work on my laptop which thankfully is provided to me by my job otherwise I would not have a laptop for myself.

I have always wanted an ASUS laptop. To me ASUS makes the best Motherboard and as the Motherboard is the foundation on any build I have confidence in their laptops.

I also hear they make a great monitor.
