There was a point in the past few years where there was a new Eee PC being announced every month or so. At a time, we easily found over 20 active Eee PC netbook models, with small tweaks to each meaning that your perfect netbook was almost certainly available from Asus
. But as the netbook category has evolved and the hype has died down somewhat, Asus has scaled back on the amount of Eee PC models they're making. But stop entirely? No way.
The company's latest machine has just been revealed, with the Eee PC 1005PX giving netbook buyers a colorful amount of options. Internally, there's a 1.6GHz Atom N450 processor, a 320GB hard drive 1/2GB of RAM, and a 10" LCD. But the 1024x600 panel is unique in the world of netbooks. Unlike most, this unit has a matte display, while most netbooks offer glossy displays. Matte panels are much easier to see outdoors and in direct sunlight, so those who travel often will appreciate it.
No pricing or release information has been released, but the battery promises around 8.5 hours of life. Hopefully we'll be able to review it soon and put that to the test.
