Asus Bringing Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) To Its Hottest Tablets

When Ice Cream Sandwich hit, most Android users expected that their Gingerbread devices would see an update soon. But today, not even 20% of all Android products have been boosted to Android 4.0, and that's an issue. As the argument around fragmentation gains traction, it seems as if Google (and its partners) are doing everything they can to keep products on the upgrade fast track with v4.1. Jelly Bean is only shipping with the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, but already Asus is stepping to the plate to deliver the new code to some of its flagship products, and soon.

Here's the letter sent out by Asus this week:
"At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our 'Design Thinking' philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.

We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.

We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.

Thank you for your continued support."
That's big news to hear that some of Asus' swankest tablets will soon see v4.1. The question is: if you haven't purchased one, might you now knowing that an update is looming?
