Apple Sets WWDC Date, Sells It Out In 12 Hours

Well, that was quick. Apple's WWDC, which has been the launching pad for the newest iPhone the past few years in a row, was both announced today and sold out today. As the company has become increasingly important in the technology world, the Worldwide Developers Conference has become a hot bed for product launches, software overhauls and masses of people joining in the fun. This year's WWDC will be held at Moscone West in San Francisco from June 6 through 10, and the five-day conference will "unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS, including exciting demonstrations of the new kinds of apps that developers can build using Apple’s advanced frameworks and more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers."

And if you were hoping to go, you may want to start focusing on WWDC 2012. Why? Within 12 hours, the entire event sold out, leaving no tickets left at this stage. Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, had this to say: "At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS. If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss."

And clearly, a lot of people won't be missing it. Even wilder, there are rumors making the rounds today noting that WWDC will actually not be the launching pad for the iPhone 5, despite the fact that the June event has been just that in the past. Even still, the future for Apple's software is bright, and we only have a few months before all is revealed, likely by Phil or Steve Jobs himself.

Apple Worldwide Developers Conference to Kick Off June 6 at Moscone West in San Francisco

CUPERTINO, California—March 28, 2011—Apple® today announced that it will hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) June 6 through June 10 at San Francisco’s Moscone West. At this year’s five-day conference Apple will unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS®, including exciting demonstrations of the new kinds of apps that developers can build using Apple’s advanced frameworks and more than 100 technical sessions presented by Apple engineers.

Mobile developers will be able to explore the latest innovations and capabilities of iOS and learn how to greatly enhance the functionality, performance and design of their apps. Mac® developers will see and learn how to develop world-class Mac OS X Lion applications using its latest technologies and capabilities. Developers can even bring their code to the labs and work with Apple engineers, applying development techniques and best-practices to enhance their apps.

Activities at Apple’s WWDC 2011 include:
