Adesso Ships AKB-440 Keyboard With Integrated Trackpad

Adesso may not be a household name when it comes to keyboards in general, but they're pretty well known in the realm of atypical, niche boards. The company has a keyboard for almost any need, from field work to HTPC users who'd like a board with an integrated trackpad.

Speaking of which, there's the new AKB-440, which touts a built-in touchpad with GlidePoint technology that prevents users from having to use a separate mouse in tandem with the QWERTY keyboard. The device is fully compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000, as well as Mac OS X, and it's encased in a metallic lining and a piano finish. There's also a variety of multimedia and Internet hotkeys, and the trackpad supports vertical scrolling, tap support and has a pair of touchpad buttons for right/left mouse clicking. If you bother to install the GlidePoint drivers, you'll also get back and forward, zoom in and out, and horizontal scrolling functions.
 The AKB-440 features the following:
  •     Slim and stylish design with a metallic lining and a piano finish, providing improved tactile feel and accurate key response
  •     Integrated touchpad with GlidePoint technology, eliminating the need for a mouse, providing additional, valuable desk space
  •     Embedded multimedia and internet hotkeys, allowing users to control home entertainment functions directly on the keyboard

The AKB-440 has an MSRP of $59.99 and it available to order now from Adesso's website.

Me likey! That would go very nicely with the kitchen and basement kiosk rigs.

You know Marco wants to know one thing - is it clicky-clacky?

That is most definitely a rubber-membrane 'board. No thanks...
