Acer Adds Touch Panels To New Aspire S7 Ultrabooks

If you had any doubts about Windows 8 being en route, let this squash 'em. Acer has just introduced their latest Ultrabooks, and both of them sport touch panels. That's right: laptops with touchscreens. It's real, and while it never really made sense in the past, Windows 8 (and the Metro user interface) changes that paradigm. The new Aspire S7 Series will ship in two sizes, 13.3" and 11.6", and both feature an aluminum shell (unibody construction). The larger one also gets a glossy, sculpted glass cover. The S7 Ultrabooks also offer pretty insane battery life: the  13.3-inch model offers up to 12 hours of battery life, while the 11.6-inch model can run for up to 9 hours.

Acer's S7 Series also features a light-sensing keyboard, which automatically detects changes in lighting conditions and adjusts the keyboard backlight brightness. Beyond that, no specs are being announced, but these will be seriously hard to lay off of come autumn.
