ASUS Launches Intel Clover Trail Based VivoTab Windows 8 Tablet

Slowly but surely, it looks as if Asus is taking the wraps off of its CES 2013 product launch plans. Shortly after teasing the Zenbook Touch U500VZ, the Clover Trail-based Asus VivoTab has emerged with a proper product portal on the company's website. It's a Windows 8-based rig, complete with a 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760 CPU, 11.6" display, a Wacom digitizer tablet, an optional ZenBook-style mobile dock and the potential to completely wipe out the need for a dedicated laptop. It's an extension of Asus' ongoing push to produce products that act as a tablet when you need one, and a laptop elsewhere, and this one's looking more promising than ever.

It'll obviously go head-to-head with devices like Microsoft's own Surface RT, boasting two USB 2.0 ports, up to 19 hours of battery life with the dock, a full keyboard + trackpad (again, via the optional mobile dock), a WXGA display, 178 degree viewing angles, an 8MP rear camera (with LED flash), a front-facing 2MP webcam, and 64GB of eMMC storage. You'll also get 32GB of Asus Webstorage space free for 36 months, as well as Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and a plethora of sensors.

Asus isn't revealing a price tag as of yet, but that should follow in due time.

Wow, this sounds very nice, unless the price is not too heavy. They are also launching the cheap Asus ME172V soon. They are becoming a respectable brand in 7 and 10 inch tablets.
