Good morning all, it's time for your Friday news post. World Series fever is running rampant through the HH labs these days. The rivalry is especially hot with Rob and Dave, Rob being the Yankees fan and Dave being the BoSox guy. Lots of trash talking going back and forth for a while there, but all in good fun. So far the Yanks are on top 2-0, but I wouldn't count the Sox out just yet. Tonight the games resume and if the Red Sox pull a win, Dave's mouth is sure to run wild. Even if you're not a baseball fan, like me, it's hard to ignore such a well known rivarly. With the Yanks holding a 2 game lead, it's too soon to say who's going to make it to the World Series, but it's sure to be a good show both on TV and here at HH. Here's your morning news...
Imation 1GB USB 2.0 Swivel Flash Drive @ Bjorn3D.com:
"If you have a USB flash drive, you probably have a little cap you have to keep track of when you use the device. Imation has a solution for this hassle and risk (we all lose little things, after all) in the form of the USB 2.0 Swivel USB Flash Drive."
Seagate's Savvio 2.5" SCSI hard drive @ The Tech Report:
"As a small form factor enthusiast with a soft spot for SCSI, I couldn't let Savvio go unscrutinized. I've run one of these tiny drives through our usual gauntlet of storage tests against five full-size 10K-RPM alternatives. The results are both surprising and inspiring. Read on to see how well the Savvio stacks up."
Cooler Master CoolDrive 6 @ Systemcooling:
"When Cooler Master grafted the Aerogate II multifunction panel onto a CoolDrive 3 hard drive cooler, they immediately had one of the best multifunction devices on the market in the CoolDrive 4. Never one to rest on their laurels though, they came up with a whole new version of this great device. Their newest effort in the hard drive cooling world, the CoolDrive 6 (don't know what happened to the CoolDrive 5...maybe it's a secret weapon :-D) aims to better the CoolDrive 4 with some features you'd expect as well as some you've never seen before in such a device."
Coolmax Xtreme Files F1-B @ TechTastic.ca:
"With the amount of computer virus's, trojans, and spyware around now a days, it becomes even more important to backup your data. There are many software solutions to back up data available and now even hardware solutions. One of these hardware solutions is from Coolmax with their Xtreme Files F1-B. This external hard drive is capable of backing up files or your entire Operating System with a push of a button."
Samsung HLN617W 61" DLP Television Review @ PCStats.com:
"We took a look at Samsung's enormous 61" HLN617W DLP flat screen TV this week, and even found time to run through a few DOOM3 games on it!. Off the cuff, the Samsung HLN617W boasts a laundry list of features as you might expect. For starters the display is a little over 19" deep, and a hundred pounds light. At the heart of the unit rests a second generation Texas Instruments 0.8" Digital Micro Device, which has a native resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. This resolution matches HDTV's 720p, pixel for pixel, and for television signals it features automatic conversion to 720p."
Native Command Queuing & Seagate's Barracuda 7200.7 @ Viper Lair:
"For most home users, there will be no tangible benefit from Native Command Queuing. While benchmarks may look nice, our real-world tests said otherwise. That is not to say that NCQ is useless altogether, but for the majority of desktop computers, you're not going to see a performance gain as you would with a jump to a newer processor. However, in situations when Hyper-Threading is being tapped, we saw some improvement in the results that would not be seen without a major hardware upgrade."
That's all for now folks. The weekend is just hours away!
