Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 Finds Life In FCC, Should Ship Soon

Samsung still isn't coming clean with a release date for the new and improved Galaxy Tab 10.1, but we have a pretty good indication that it'll be shipping sooner rather than later. Why? Because the GT-P7310 just landed in the FCC. If you aren't familiar with the process of FCC clearance, it generally works as such. A product that clears the FCC and winds up published in the database is usually on track for a near-term release in the U.S. Combined with the fact that Samsung previously mentioned a "June" release date for the Tab 10.1, and things seem to be lining up well to have this super-sleek tablet in the hands of consumers soon.

The Tab 10.1 has an interesting story. The original Tab 10.1 was both thicker and heavier than the iPad 2, and Samsung quickly decided to just scrap it and try again. It survived in select regions as the Tab 10.1v, but it's clear that this new 10.1 is their flagship unit. Both 3G and Wi-Fi models are expected soon, with pricing to start at $499. It's hard to say if Apple will be able to announce anything new surrounding the iPad line during WWDC before the Tab 10.1 ships, but now that it's through the FCC, it should really only be a matter of days/weeks before it flies out to consumers.
