Futuremark & Gigabyte Tag Team On Overclocking Competition

Looking for yet another venue to showcase your overclocking skills? Look no further, as two of the biggest names in overclocking have joined hands in order to offer up an array of prizes for those willing to push the very boundaries most folks are fine with accepting. Futuremark (the company responsible for the benchmarking suite we use right here) along with Gigabyte are announcing a new competition for OCers the world over.

The contest will rely on AMD and Gigabyte hardware, giving contestants around the globe the ability to compete in two segments for the overall "Gigabyte Dragon" title within a couple of prize award categories. Considering just how much headroom the newest line of AMD processors have, we couldn't be happier to see the company being showcased in such a competition. While Intel seems to garner the majority of the spotlight, hardcore modders and gamers know that AMD is a name worthy of respect.

Contestants will be competing to see who can achieve the highest score with 3DMark06, with content entries being accepted from August 17th to September 13th.  Prizes will be awarded to first to third place finishers for the following segments, top 3DMark score and top CPU overclocking, with grand prizes including Gigabyte's GA-MA790FXT-UD5P motherboard, FSP Everest 800 Watt power supply, Maxcube Amoris 6010 Architectural Designed Gaming Case, GlacialTech X-Wing Notebook Cooling Pad, Gskill F3 Triple Channel DDR3 6GB memory module, and Enermax Apollo series 12cm Fan.
