American Vigilante Hacker The Jester Vandalizes Russian Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Site Sending A Message
Maybe he’s the hero the United States “deserves, but not the one it needs right now”. It looks like the United States has its own hacking Dark Knight. American vigilante hacker “The Jester” gained unauthorized access to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website and left a very interesting message for the Russian government.
This past Friday, the Jester hacked into MID.ru, the official website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He found a vulnerability in the website’s code and injected his own code into it. He inserted the shriek of the American civil alert sound (aka "The Emergency Broadcast System" or EBS) and the following message: “Comrades! We interrupt regular scheduled Russian Foreign Affairs Website programming to bring you the following important message. Knock it off. You may be able to push around nations around you, but this is America. Nobody is impressed.”
In an interview with CNNMoney, the Jester remarked that he had chosen to hack into the Russian website due to his frustration over the cyber-attack of many American websites on Friday. It has since been revealed that Wikileaks supporters were actually behind the attack, not the Russian government.
The Russian government, however, has been blamed for other cyber-attacks. Specifically, the US has formally accused Russia of hacking into Democratic National Committee emails and the sites of other Democratic Party-linked organizations in order to leak information about presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The Russian government and Vladimir Putin denied involvement, nevertheless, the Jester maintained that they were crucial to the attack. During his takeover of MID.ru, he stated, “Let's get real, I know it's you, even if by-proxy, and you know it's you. Now, get to your room. Before I lose my temper.”
The Jester’s message has since been taken down, but was up on MID.ru as late as Saturday morning. The Jester had hoped that since he had hacked the website on the weekend, his message would not be taken down until Monday.
In the past, the Jester has been responsible for taking down jihadist websites and hacking into terrorist forums to help identify potential terrorists. In his interview, the Jester remarked, “I wanted to poke them in the eye and stop feeling like U.S. is just taking it on the chin. Again. I'm not gonna sit around watching these f***ers laughing at us.”
