We have a tip for all the tipsters around the world -- use steady hands and good lighting when taking photos of unreleased and unannounced products. That's unless there's some unwritten rule we're not aware of; one that states all leaked photos have to look like they've been taken by a hyperactive 4-year-old wielding a Fisher Price camera. But we're not here to talk about that. Instead, have a look at what a tipster claims are photos of
Samsung's yet-to-be-announced Galaxy S6 Active.
The images were sent to
GSMArena and show the front and back of the supposed device. They're grainy and blurry, though you can still make out a few details, like the loudspeaker being moved to the back (compared to the Galaxy S5 Active). It also appears as though Samsung is bringing back the heart rate monitor, which sits next to the rear-facing camera.
The Galaxy S6 Active as portrayed in the pics is a rugged looking device and should be waterproof, dust proof, and so forth, just like its predecessor. Inside is a 3,500mAh battery, according to the tipster who took the photos. That's a pretty big upgrade from the 2,600mAh battery found in the Galaxy S5 Active, which claimed up to 14 hours of video play, 77 hours of music, 29 hours of standby, up to 11 hours of 3G connectivity, up t o12 hours of 4G web surfing, and up to 13 hours of Internet use on Wi-Fi.
Other than the battery, there's no word yet on what the Galaxy S6 Active will pack. For the sake of comparison, the Galaxy S5 Active features a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB+ internal storage, microSD card slot, 2MP front-facing camera, 16MP rear-facing camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a few other odds and ends.
