Acer AC100 Micro Server Now Shipping in the U.S.

Acer today announced that it's now offering its AC100 micro-server commercially in the U.S. The AC100 attempts to squeeze server class performance and features into a compact footprint that's relatively affordable at just $999 (MSRP).

Some of the key features include an Intel Xeon E3-1260L (standard), Core i3, or Pentium series processor; up to 8TB of storage with RAID support; 16GB of memory; four 3.5-inch hot-pluggable hard drive bays; six USB ports; a PCI-E x8 slot; and video and eSATA ports.

The AC100 also boasts a high-efficiency 200W 80 Plus power supply and is purportedly easy to service and upgrade with a tool-less design.

"We're committed to helping organizations succeed by providing systems that are easy to set up, use and maintain without taking up a lot of space," said Michael O'Beirne, Acer senior director, commercial product marketing. "The AC100 provides plenty of power, security and expansion without requiring dedicated IT resources, which can be imperative for a small business. Plus, we assure superior technical service from North American call centers, so our customers can focus on what they do best, their core business."

The AC100 is available now and backed by a one-year warranty (extended warranties and services available).
