Comcast Updates Xfinity iOS App With Loads Of New Content

Are you a Comcast subscriber? Judging by their massive customer base, there's a pretty good chance you are, or at least that someone you know is. And if so, you've probably ventured out to try the new Xfinity TV app, which aims to extend the Pay-TV universe into the world of the iPad and iPhone. For Comcast subscribers, this is the easiest way to watch content on their mobile iOS device, and for Comcast, it's a way to continue to hang on to subscribers who may be thinking of dropping their service.

Beginning today, customers using these devices and the iPad can download a new version of the Xfinity TV app, and have access to a vast collection of entertainment - nearly 6,000 hours of On Demand content from 25 programmers -  in the palm of their hands for free. To reach this milestone, Comcast has recently added several new programmers, bringing in top video selections from 25 content partners. The good news is that there's no price uptick (or price at all) for this, and we suspect that cable companies at large are going to continue down this path for as long as it takes in order to keep customers around. Cable TV prices may be rising, but at least it's somewhat easier to justify if the services rise as well.
